Audio-Taped auditions must be in the TYSA office by Friday, August 7th. (NO DVD's/videos accepted)
Audio-taped Auditions are not to a student’s advantage. They should only be used as a last resort.

2009-2010 TYSA Auditions

There are ongoing auditions for certain instruments. Please complete the Student Information Form online and call the office for further information.

Auditions are held each August for placement in the seven orchestras and adjunct programs of the Tacoma Youth Symphony Association.
All returning and new students are required to participate in the audition process.

Place: Urban Grace church, Tacoma, WA Dates: August 10-19, 2009; dates are instrument specific

Preparation: Prepare a classical solo of your choice, no accompaniment, that will demonstrate technical proficiency, tone production, and musicianship; consult your music teacher when selecting a piece. This is an audition and not a performance, expect to be stopped before you complete your piece. A short excerpt from an orchestral score will be provided for sight-reading.

Theory classes are also available.

Student Information Form : Please complete the Student Information Form online and submit it AT LEAST 24 HOURS prior to making your audition appointment. Please call for an audition time after: May 26, 2009 10am-4pm 253-627-2792. Print out and sign the Agreement Form and bring it with you to your scheduled audition appointment.

Arrive 30 minutes before your audition. Bring the signed Agreement Form (see below) with you to your audition. The audition fee is $50.

POLICY ON SCHOOL MUSIC PARTICIPATION

It is important to us that all students and their parents be familiar with the school music policy of the Tacoma Youth Symphony Association (TYSA) and that they understand and agree to support it. To

provide us with a record of your knowledge of this policy, we will ask that you complete and sign the above form designating such. We appreciate your adherence to and support of this policy.

	An important aspect of membership in any TYSA orchestra or one of its adjunct programs is simultaneous participation by the student musician in their school’s instrumental music program.
	TYSA strongly supports music education in the schools. School music programs offer the student musician opportunities for daily ensemble participation which is then complemented by their involvement in the TYSA orchestras.
	Participation in school music, in TYSA and in private lessons are three elements of well-rounded music education

$610 ($580 if paid in full by 9/15/2009)

Tacoma Junior Youth Symphony
$550 ($520 if paid in full by 9/15/2009)

Tacoma Debut Orchestra & Tacoma Debut Winds

Tacoma Symphony Philharmonia & Tacoma String Symphony
$540 ($510 if paid in full by 9/15/2009)

Monthly payment plans are also available with a $50 deposit due on 9/15/2009 and equal monthly payments due on the 15th of the month from October 15th through April 15th

Family Discount or Bass Discount (one per family member) will be applied to your final payment. There is no penalty for pre-payment.
